In 1959 when David Rockefeller envisioned the construction of a permanent building in New York that would be a gathering place for international trade, he set in motion the birth of a global eco-system. World Trade Centers or WTCs have since transcended to become the world’s trusted brand which facilitates international business connections and trade. It is much more than real estate infrastructure or an organisation that fosters international trade.
With the motto “Peace and Stability Through Trade”, New York headquartered World Trade Center Association (WTCA) are the proud custodians of the World Trade Center brand. Founded in 1968, 328 members, apolitical and country independent, housed in a complex of buildings across 89 countries support the international trade and business objectives of the 1M+ businesses in the regions they operate.
Services of the unofficial umbrella trade association WTCA include meeting and club facilities, trade information and education services, exhibit space, access to temporary office space, videoconferencing facilities, secretarial and translation services, international market research, business matchmaking and connections to valuable public and private resources, planning of strategic trade missions, trade educational programs and networking events. Through a robust portfolio of events, programming and resources that it offers its Members, the goal of the WTCA is to help local economies thrive by encouraging and facilitating trade and investment across the globe through Member engagement.
WTCA’s continuing efforts are directed towards encouraging expansion of world trade; promoting international business relationships and understanding among nations; fostering increased participation in world trade by industrializing nations; creating and encouraging mutual assistance and cooperation among members and further promoting the concept of the World Trade Center.
In its latest effort to foster excellence, it has just unveiled its “WTCA Champions Awards,” or “Champies,” for short, a new awards program designed to recognize excellence throughout its global network. Nominations for these awards will open in early 2020 under five categories of Connectivity, Reciprocity, Network Support, Sustainability per UN Sustainable Development Goals and Best Member.
Perceived as a global network for business, WTC has evolved as a global symbol of growth and prosperity. The paradigm is that associating with WTCA begets prosperity to the region as it helps create a positive economic impact on business investors and regional community, helps new businesses source capital, inspires economic growth and infrastructure development and stimulate a large part of all global trade. The global track record of WTC associates is that the brand’s services deliver business results.
One of the poignant examples of how WTC supports regional development is the Mobile Open-Exchange Cluster (MOX) in NOIDA City in North India. An initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Government and ably supported by WTC Noida , MOX is creating the right ecosystem to support India’s unfolding telecom success story. It will be a catalyst for infrastructure growth, generate huge employment capabilities, open new investment opportunities and have a multiplier effect on the production and distribution value chain boosting realty sector investments. WTC Noida will be playing a pole position in underlaying MOX’s success.
